LEGAL LITERACY AND AWARENESS CAMPS
As a part of the Clinical Programme mandated by the BCI, New Delhi, at Centre of Legal Education we maintain free Legal Aid Clinic that inducts students to share their knowledge of law to provide free legal aid to public at large by organizing Legal literacy and awareness camps. The functions that student undertake are preventive, remedial, activist and reformative. To bring awareness among rural population, Legal Literacy Camp model is inculcated in the programme. It is a collaborative model conducted in support with District Legal Service Authority, Delhi. The camps aim to help people realize the potential of legal empowerment and to address the information gap generating awareness among the community about their rights and entitlements and grievance redressal mechanisms of the judicial system in India. The initiative is strengthened through joint participation of faculty members and students of our college.
MOOT COURT COMPETITION
Entrusted with the responsibility of administering and facilitating all mooting related activities and upholding the high standards of excellence, CLE has set for itself in the field of mooting. The main aim is to develop future mooters, as well as to inculcate an interest in mooting among the law students. The utmost aim is to follow a policy of encouraging participation in mooting from all batches, organizes extensive workshops and demonstrations to enable them to learn the process of mooting and arrange for interactive sessions with experienced mooters and litigators from previous batches.
COURT VISITS
The Centre plans to organize the students’ visit to the various courts viz. District and Sessions Court, High Court, Supreme court and Tribunals to aid the theoretical knowledge gained by the students with the insightful experience of how the law works in practice. The purpose of the visit is to understand the work of the court and the nature of the service of judicial officers. These visits are planned for the students to understand the role of the court in dispensing justice, where they observe the live work of the court proceedings; the role of the public prosecutor in criminal trials, the way judges, prosecutors, and defense lawyers handle the cases.
JAIL VISITS
Jail visit is arranged for the students to make them aware of the prison arrangement in India and how law works in reformation of the Criminals. As a part of Clinical Program, the students help to literate the inmates about their legal rights. The students also come across the necessary information regarding the living conditions in the jail. The students are able to understand the environment of prison and also identify the under trial prisoners.
STUDENT MENTORING PROGRAM
Student Mentorship Program (SMP) is a program run for the students with the primary objective of enabling constructive and positive interaction, guidance and mentorship facilitation between the teachers and the students. The goal of the mentorship program is to help the students in redressing their problems.
By building a diverse group of mentors and mentees, the centre aims to pair mentees with the mentors in order to resolve to their problems at personal level. Mentees have an opportunity to gain first-hand insight about the experience of the mentors and develop a meaningful relationship with their mentor during the academic year.
